Stage 2 - Subscription

President Obama's directive on transparency and open government instructs agencies to:

"Work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration."  (emphasis added)

The ET.gov site/process supports the President's directive by enabling the public to participate in identifying emerging technologies of potential interest to .gov and .mil agencies.

During Stage 2 of the ET.gov process, individuals like you may self-subscribe to emerging technology components and specifications in which you have significant interest, thereby forming communities of practice (CoPs) collaborating around them.

We have not had the resources to automate this stage but it may eventually include elements such as those identified at http://xml.gov/draft/ETLifeCycleStage2.htm.  In the meantime, emerging technology (ET) CoPs of which we are aware are identified below.

CoPs may use whatever means they choose to collaborate around ET components, such as:
Regardless of which collaborative means CoPs choose to use, we will point to them if they are openly available on the Web and conform to our linking policies.

If you are aware of any CoPs that have formed around any of the components identified on the Search Components screen that are not listed below, please let us know by using the Contact ET.gov mailto link at the bottom of this page.  If and, hopefully, when resources are available to do so, we will provide (or link and point to) more automated means of subscribing to components identified in the ET.gov process as well as identifying and locating the collaborative sites used by each CoP.
