Endorsement

Disclaimer of Endorsement

The information posted on the ET.gov website includes hypertext links to information created and maintained by other public and/or private organizations. ET.gov provides these links solely for the information and convenience of our users. When users select links to other websites, they are leaving the ET.gov site and are subject to the privacy and security policies of the owners/sponsors of the linked websites.

ET.gov does not control or guarantee the accuracy, relevance, timeliness or completeness of information contained on linked websites.

ET.gov does not endorse the organizations sponsoring linked websites nor do we endorse the views they express or the components, products or services they offer.

ET.gov cannot authorize the use of copyrighted materials contained in linked websites. Users must request such authorization from the sponsor of the linked website. However, as a matter of principle, we will not knowingly link to materials that are copyrighted. The presence of such material may be cause for us not to link to a page and/or to remove any link as soon as we become aware of the presence of such material on that page.

ET.gov does not guarantee that outside websites comply with Section 508 (Accessibility Requirements) of the Rehabilitation Act. However, we will not knowingly link to any page that does not comply with accessibility requirements, and the lack of such compliance may be cause for removal of any such links from our site.

Accessibility

ET.gov Accessibility Policy

We are committed to providing access to all individuals, regardless of physical abilities, seeking information on the ET.gov site. The site has been designed and built to comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act (as amended). Section 508 requires that individuals with disabilities (whether federal employees or members of the general public) be given access to and use of information and data comparable to that provided to individuals without disabilities, unless an undue burden would be imposed on us.

Linking

ET.gov Linking Policy

The ET.gov site links to Web pages containing Extensible Markup Language (XML) instance documents conforming to (validating against) the XML schema (XSD) specified for indexing on our site. We may also link to Web-based services providing enhanced capabilities for our stakeholders to discover and subsequently form communities of practice (CoPs) for collaboration around proposed emerging technology components identified on the site. However, we do not endorse and make no guarantees about any such services, and any links on the ET.gov site are provided solely for informational purposes as a convenience to our users.

Prohibitions

You may only submit for indexing on the site content that is: (i) owned by you, or (ii) submitted with the express permission of the owner, and (iii) in the public domain, i.e., openly available on the World Wide Web. In addition, all information you post on the Web for indexing on the ET.gov site must be: a) relevant to the specified emerging technology component, and b) in good taste as determined by common sense and the most restrictive community standards. The ET.gov site may not be used to establish links to any data or content that:

We reserve the right to remove links to any content that fails to comply with these prohibitions. Collection of Information

Information Collected and Stored Automatically

When you browse, read pages or download information on ET.gov, we automatically gather and store certain technical information about your visit. This information never identifies who you are. The information we collect and store about your visit is listed below:
  • The Internet domain (for example, "xcompany.com" if you use a private Internet access account, or "yourschool.edu" if you connect from a university's domain) and IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web) from which you access our website;
  • The type of browser (e.g., Netscape, Internet Explorer) and operating system (Windows, Unix) used to access our site;
  • The date and time you access our site;
  • The pages you visit; and
  • If you linked to the ET.gov website from another website, the address of that website.
    This information is only used to help us make the site more useful for you. With this data we learn about the number of visitors to our site and the types of technology our visitors use. We never track or record information about individuals and their visits.

Personal Information/Privacy

Personal Information

To protect the integrity of the ET.gov site and guard against false impersonation, if you choose to identify a proposed ET component, you must provide a valid e-mail address to be used solely to authenticate that you are actually the person submitting the Web address (URL) of the XML instance document describing your proposed component. E-mail addresses are not captured or maintained on ET.gov site.

If you choose to use it, a form on ET.gov does allow you to create a valid XML instance document containing contact information, including optional personal data, in the event you may wish to make such information available on your own website or the site of any intermediary you may choose to use. Whether you choose to provide any such information is solely at your discretion.

If you do post contact information elsewhere on the Web and provide the Web address (URL) for the valid XML instance document, a hypertext link will be provided on the ET.gov site for the benefit of users who may wish to contact you. ET.gov does not capture, index, or store the information entered on the contact information form. ET.gov never creates individual profiles or shares personal information. ET.gov never collects information for marketing purposes, nor will we knowingly link to any site that does so as a direct result of visiting a page to which we link. The collection of such information may be cause for us to remove a link to any such page.
